What is essential to work with Sit & Staycations?

  • A valid driver’s license a reliable, insured vehicle.
  • The ability communicate effectively by returning emails and phone calls promptly.
  • Familiarity with the service area.
  • Commitment to at least 6 months working with us.
  • Professional references.
  • Current, clean background check.
  • Pet first aid/CPR training.
  • Access to a browser and our mobile phone application while completing duties.
  • An understanding that “Dominance” and “Alpha” theories have been debunked (read more here).
  • Be open-minded and teachable in regards to learning about force-free and fear-free handling.


Available positions:

  • Dog Walker: Recurring Monday-Friday visits (8-5 pm) where we walk in the client’s neighborhood or drive to a nearby park so dogs can have their basic needs and enrichment needs met.
  • Pet Sitter: While clients are away, we visit their home 1-4 times per day to walk, feed and care for their pet(s).
  • Sleepover Sitter: We spend the night in our client’s homes to care for their pet(s).

    What position(s) are you interested in?

    What holidays are you unable to work? Extra fees charged on these days go directly to the sitter ($12-$50 per visit). It is a requirement to be able to work either Thanksgiving or Christmas.

    If you are unable to work a holiday listed above, please provide an explanation: Remember, during peak times like Thanksgiving or Christmas, you’ll have limited work hours, allowing for personal commitments.

    Are you available to work with us at least two weekends a month?

    Do you have an insured, reliable means of transportation to get from each client’s house to the next and a valid driver’s license? A reliable means of transportation is a must to work with us.

    Have you ever been convicted of a crime?

    Client Expectations:
    Dog walks, poop pickup, and litter box cleaning are essential pet sitter responsibilities that are expected from clients. It is important to be comfortable with handling and caring for various types of pets, administering medication (pills and shots), and freely giving love to pets when their owners are absent. Pet sitters are able to walk 3-6 miles per day and are able to lift 20lbs. Client expectations include use of an app to track walks and visits using GPS and delivery of a full report that includes multiple photos and videos. Are you able to meet these client expectations?
